New York State Police troopers were dispatched to the Department of Motor Vehicles on Marshall Road in Wappingers Falls at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Monday, June 18, where there was a report of a man with a gun making threats in the building.
Police said that the investigation into the incident found that Wappinger resident Barry Gutierrez was allegedly “acting in a disruptive manner, alarming people at the DMV by implying that he was in possession of a gun, and was worse than a preschool shooter.”
Gutierrez was arrested at the DMV and charged with a felony count of making a terroristic threat and third-degree menacing, a misdemeanor. Following arraignment in the Village of Wappingers Falls Court, Gutierrez was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. Gutierrez is due back in court on Thursday, June 21 to answer the charges.
